Cuppa: A Cup Survey

Cuppa: A Cup Survey is an invitational show at MAKERS GALLERY exploring the range of cups currently being made by Australian makers.  This survey also offers relatively new makers the opportunity to have work alongside the very experienced.  It will be interesting to see the implicit diversity in technique , clays, firing approaches and glazes from numerous potters  in response to the concept “cup”.

Cuppa was chosen as the overarching concept for this survey as it alludes to social context and the aspect of a break and respite from routine activities of the day.  Having a cuppa can be a solo affair or part of a social ritual of a “cuppa and a chat”.  Whether coffee, tea or other beverage imbibing is both for the physical self as well as for the soul.

A favourite cup can form a very important part of one’s domestic rituals and daily life.
