More About The Artists
Waterlines
Waterlines celebrates the enduring tradition of mentorship and the flowing exchange of influence within the world of ceramics. Central to the exhibition is the idea that, like water, knowledge and creativity move in both directions—rippling between teacher and student, past and present.
This exhibition brings together the work of Andrew Bryant and Madison Hunter, two ceramic artists whose practices are deeply connected. Andrew has spent over 30 years teaching and making, shaping the paths of many students through his evolving approach to ceramics. Madison, one of those students, has since become an educator herself and is now continuing her creative development through further academic study.
Ceramics, long rooted in oral traditions, has historically relied on the passing down of techniques, stories, and ways of thinking through close, hands-on learning—something both artists embody in their shared practice and exchange.
Presented at Makers Gallery alongside Bloodlines, Waterlines explores how influence flows not just through teaching, but also through shared environments and mutual inspiration. Both artists live on the coast, and their work is shaped by the rhythms of the landscape as much as by their artistic dialogue with one another.
Waterlines is a reflection on connection—between artists, across generations, and through the natural world they inhabit.
