Makers Window: Lucy Be Ceramics
My pots are made on the wheel and are altered with the addition of slab constructed details. This approach presents an opportunity to manipulate the thrown elements, creating pieces with individuality. They reflect the beauty and awkward imperfections of being human. I rely on form and colour to create a sense of whimsical nostalgia, lending these objects a timelessness that reflects their enriching role in our lives.
The pots are fired in a reduced atmosphere and most have additions of stone and iron added to the clay, creating varied surfaces. The addition of other materials such as high temperature wire and turned wooden handles, represents a duality of traditional and contemporary ideas.
